CLOCS – Construction Logistics & Cyclist Safety – has been shortlisted for two independent industry awards as the initiative continues to gain recognition in both the construction and road safety industries. The Motor Transport and Constructing Excellence awards both include CLOCS on their shortlists, for the Partnership and Health & Safety categories respectively.

The Motor Transport awards have been running for 30 years, and celebrate the best companies, innovations and individuals from the road transport industry. The Transport for London partnership with the CLOCS operator delegation has been shortlisted for the Partnership Award, the winner of which will be announced at a ceremony at London’s Grosvenor House on 1st July. The CLOCS operator delegation aimed to stimulate the production of safer construction heavy goods vehicles, with all round direct vision.

Following the Motor Transport awards are the Constructing Excellence Awards, announced on 2nd July. CLOCS has won a spot on the shortlist for London & South East for the Health & Safety category. Should the initiative be successful in the regional award, CLOCS will also be put forward for the national Health and Safety award, announced the same evening. CLOCS has been shortlisted based on its three workstreams of: improving vehicle safety through increased driver vision; addressing the imbalance between workplace and work related road safety and establishing a common national standard managing work related road risk.

John Hix, CLOCS Project Director, said: “Both awards are prestigious in their respective fields, with judging panels made up of experienced and influential individuals from across the road transport and construction industries. Being shortlisted shows that a company, individual or innovation is highly regarded in its field, and we are delighted that CLOCS has been recognised in this way.

“For CLOCS to be recognised in both sectors is testament to the progress that has been made since its formation in 2013 and we are excited about the opportunity this presents to broaden awareness of the initiative nationwide.”
