Major pets retailer Pets At Home has turned to Cartwright once again for a solution to meet its latest operational requirements

The fast-expanding national pet food and accessories group, which has a network of over 400 stores throughout the UK, had a problem with bridge access in the south east and asked south Manchester based Cartwright to build (fleet specification) straight frame tri axle curtainsider semi-trailers with an overall height of four metres.

A long-established customer of Cartwright, Pets At Home usually order double deck step frame curtainsider trailers, but on this occasion needed a specific solution to accommodate a particular contract in the south east.

The curtainsider trailers, resplendent in Pets At Home green livery, which have buckle-less operated curtain tensioning, are now on the road meeting the requirements of the Pets At Home customer and accessing low bridges efficiently as a result of their lower height.

Pets At Home has also ordered an urban tandem axle box van with rear steer from Cartwright specifically for delivery of products from its RDCs into its high street stores.

The company recently acquired a number of smaller non-retail park stores and this new trailer offers the manoeuvrability that the company needs to take their products into the high street.

This one-off order could lead to further orders for urban tandem axle box vans from Cartwright as the company has an increasing requirement for delivery to high street locations in addition to existing out of town stores.

This latest order embraces the full range of Cartwright market-leading one-stop shop services as the finance was arranged through Cartwright Finance and maintenance through Cartwright Fleet Services.

Campbell Baxter, Fleet and Compliance Manager at Pets At Home commented:

“We are very pleased with these latest trailers from Cartwright and particularly because they give Pets At Home the flexibility to access smaller, non-retail park locations.”
