West Midlands-based Aspray 24, the delivery, logistics and international operator, has again ordered another large number of rigid vehicle curtain sided bodies from Cartwright.

The company, which has 14 depots strategically placed across the UK, has its head office and main hub based in Willenhall, West Midlands.  Next day delivery is at the very core of its business which operates 24 hours a day and delivery is in 24 hours. The company’s niche is its ability to deliver anything from a Jiffy bag to a full load and anything in between.

Aspray is an established long-term customer of Cartwright and these new vehicles are part of the operator’s ongoing replacement programme. Currently the Aspray 24 fleet comprises 400 powered vehicles and 160 trailers.

The majority of the vehicles are 7.5 tonne curtain sided rigids with tail lifts as well as some 18 tonne rigid curtainsiders. The vehicles are being delivered from July through to November.

The bodies are all XL rated and include a built-in safety device, an alarm in the cab, which is connected with the tail-lift to advise the driver that the tail-lift is stowed away properly, a feature which is believed to be unique in the industry.

Aspray 24 has also been working closely with Cartwright engineers since last year on ways to improve payload, as vehicle chassis have had to comply with the upgrades in Euro standards which has directly resulted in Aspray 24 losing payload. Cartwright and Aspray 24 have subsequently found a solution to improve payload, by between five and six per cent. That improvement resulted from working together on the bodies as well as the new lightweight tail-lift.

Richard Catley, Fleet Services Director of Aspray 24 commented: “Cartwright is the type of company that you deal with in the knowledge that they never walk away from a challenge. At the end of the day you are as good as your product and the after sales service from Cartwright is really good.”
