O’Donovan Waste Disposal is delighted to continue partnering with officers from the Metropolitan Police Cycle Safety Team by supporting their current Operation Safeway by donating reflective wrist bands for the Team to give to cyclists.

Operation Safeway is a response to an increase of fatal collisions involving vulnerable road users – pedestrians, cyclists and motorbikes – as the darker evenings arrive.  Research has found that serious collisions and road fatalities increase 10% in the four weeks after the clocks go back.  There are several reasons for the increase but the simplest is that pedestrians and cyclists, road signs, and other road users are harder to spot.

Road safety is paramount at O’Donovan, especially as a company operating 90 HGVs negotiating the busy London roads.  In addition to supporting the Met’s Cycle Safety Team O’Donovan drivers have received detailed briefings about the need for heightened awareness as the darker evenings draw in.

O’Donovan Waste Disposal Ltd will be getting involved with Road Safety Week from 20th to 26th November 2017 with various events and initiatives.  Follow us on Twitter and connect with us on Facebook and LinkedIn to keep up to date.
