FORS Gold accreditation holders and CLOCS Champions, Gordon Group is adding 30 new Volvo FMX 8×4 tippers to its fleet, in a planned fleet replacement programme, stretching over several months. The latest batch of four trucks arrived in early September and are equipped with Day cabs, Volvo D13K Euro 6 engines producing 410hp and I-Shift automated manual transmission systems.

Supplied by Dean Harris, Truck Sales Manager at MC Truck & Bus Ltd, the FMXs feature Gordon Group’s preferred specification Charlton SuperLite tipper bodies, fitted with a mixture of Binotto or Edbro hydraulic equipment and automatic sheeting systems.

The FMXs will be deployed on blue chip construction projects in Central or Greater London and each truck will average just around 30,000 miles per year, due to the capital’s traffic congestion levels.

Based in South Ockendon, Essex, Gordon Group was formed in the year 2000. “We bought one of the first Volvo FMX chassis in 2011 and since then the FMX has proved the perfect choice for our operations,” reports Arran Gordon, Managing Director at Gordon Group, adding, “The standard Volvo FMX specification is much more comprehensive than other makes and in my opinion Volvo is the best truck on the market.”

Complementing Gordon Group’s FORS Gold and CLOCS Champion status is ISO Certification for 9001, 14001 and 18001 processes. This professional standards ethos also extends to its tipper trucks.

“We always specify Volvo’s factory-fitted passenger door glazing alongside a Brigade five camera system and a Camatics combined CCTV/telematics system. Vishay/PM onboard weighing equipment is also part of our fleet standard for complete compliance,” Arran notes.
