Leading steel stockholder High Peak Steels has marked the launch of its rebranding with new vehicles from Ryder.

The company has refleeted with Ryder, taking six Daf dropsides on a five-year contract. The fleet comprises of a pair of 18 tonne LF230s, a trio of 12 tonne LF180s, and a 7.5 tonne LF150.

The new branding features not only on the vehicles, but also on the company’s Glossop warehouse. A redesigned website is on its way with a new technical library for customers to use. The new livery sees High Peak Steels move away from a livery that has served it well for 32 years.

Managing director Mark Thornley explains: “There has been major investment in plant and machinery over the past 12 months, we have extended our stock range massively and felt after 32 years it was time for a fresh and more up to date look that reflected our onward and upward investment and direction.”

High Peak Steels is a stockholder of bright and black carbon and alloy engineering steels. Mark says: “Our customers machine steel into a variety of components: nuts, bolts, pins, shafts and gears, for example. We offer a next-day delivery service from our Glossop warehouse, supplying engineering companies up to Morecambe, across to Hull, down to Leicester and into Birmingham, up through into north Wales.

“We are keen to continue to offer the best and most reliable service in the industry: our current 95% on-time and in-full delivery service keeps us way ahead of our competition. The continued investment in new vehicles and a keen focus on the changing times in the steel industry is key to our success,”

The company became a Ryder customer five years ago and had no hesitation in continuing the relationship. Mark says: “We like the whole Ryder experience: they make it easy for us to deal with them. They’re local, which is important too. We need a vehicle supplier who can do more than simply supply the vehicles: the trucks are on the road five days a week from 6am until 5pm, so they’re repaired and maintained overnight – that flexibility is one of the reasons we wanted to stay with Ryder.”

John Murray, Ryder sales and marketing director, says: “We’re delighted to further our partnership with High Peak Steels. Vehicle uptime is crucial to truck operators, especially those offering next-day services: Ryder understands this and strives to maximise uptime, allowing our customers to focus on their business and their clients.”
