Scania’s Used Vehicles sales team has assisted aspiring owner-driver Marcus Da Silva create his own company, Barking-based Da Silva Transport, by sourcing a used vehicle to suit his requirements through Scania Direct, organising a finance agreement through Scania Finance Great Britain Ltd and planning a repair and maintenance package to support his operational needs.

For Marcus, the one-stop service provided by Scania’s Used Sales team was a great boost. “The fact that I could do everything in one place made things a lot simpler,” he says. “There’s so much going on so having all that taken care of means there’s less for me to think and worry about. The Used Sales staff at Scania Purfleet were super friendly and helpful from the first time that I went to look at used trucks last year. You feel like they’re happy to go out of their way to make sure that you’re happy.”
Prior to setting up as an owner-driver, Marcus had been working as an employed driver and has always worked with Scania vehicles. This familiarity and trust with the brand was one of the main reasons he decided to purchase a used R 440 Highline with a full repair and maintenance package.
“Starting my own business was something that I’ve wanted to do for years. I wanted to be my own boss and not have to worry about swapping vehicles when they went in for service. I knew I wanted a vehicle that I knew and enjoyed driving. One thing I like about the Scania is that the cab is spacious and comfortable and everything is easily within reach.
“I also wanted a vehicle with back up that I could trust. My experience has been that as long as it’s maintained properly by the people that know what they’re doing, then you have peace of mind when working with a Scania”, explains Marcus.
