The iconic Biffa trucks are a regular sight on the UK’s roads, and as one of the country’s leading integrated waste management and recycling businesses, they have now taken delivery of 10 new Isuzu 3.5 tonne Grafter Green trucks that will be working within both the Biffa industrial and municipal fleets.
The 10 Isuzu N35.125 rigids have been supplied to Biffa with a mixture of caged tippers and drop side bodies.
Five of the Isuzu Grafter Green rigids, with caged tipper bodies, have gone into service with Biffa, operating from their depot at Gorton in East Manchester, and working on contracts for Manchester City Council covering street cleaning and litter collection.
Commenting on their new Isuzu Grafters, Steve Lea from Biffa said, “The Isuzus have an excellent payload capacity and we expect to be running these for a seven-year period. Initially, we took an Isuzu on demonstration for evaluation purposes and it was well received by the team here. It proved to be reliable in service, which is why we have now taken these five new Grafters for the council contract here in Manchester.”
“Without doubt, the Isuzus are extremely fit for purpose and for the future they will be our ‘go to’ marque for this type of application,” added Steve.
In central London, Biffa are running the remaining five Isuzu trucks using a mixture of caged tipper and drop side bodies, and these are covering industrial collection and bag collection customers in the capital. According to Fleet Project Engineer Colin Bagnall from Biffa, “With the London ULEZ in place, we knew we needed to replace some non-compliant vehicles and the Euro VI Isuzu Grafter Green perfectly met our requirements for compliance.”
The latest five new Isuzu Grafter Greens for Biffa in London are liveried in the iconic Biffa red colour scheme and have reversing cameras fitted with monitors in cab, and audible warning signals for turning left.
