A leading national road transport company, Dyce Carriers Ltd, is further expanding into the Central Belt of Scotland with a new facility opening in Grangemouth.
Established in 1973, Aberdeen-based Dyce Carriers has grown to become a national road transport business with over 100 employees and a fleet of around 80 HGV vehicles across four facilities in Aberdeen, Dalgety Bay in Fife, Poole in Dorset and the newly opened Grangemouth site.
During the downturn in the oil and gas industry, Dyce Carriers made the decision to streamline its business model by investing in a new facility in Scotland’s largest container terminal, Grangemouth.
The new 65,000 sq. ft facility will allow Dyce Carriers to further develop its service and operational capabilities in Scotland and the UK. The new facility, being only 25 miles from both Edinburgh and Glasgow, is well placed as a central hub to all logistical routes for existing and new clients, where more than six billion shipments pass through each year from all around the world.
Dyce Carriers is now well positioned to allow its key customers to service global markets from its Grangemouth depot.
The expansion into Grangemouth has generated six new jobs in the area with opportunity for more in early 2019 and will offer a range of services and capabilities including; a 40tonne reachstacker capable of 40tonne cargo lifts, 30tonne container lifts for 20/40tft containers, 3tonne triple stage forklift for loading/unloading containers and the capabilities to land up to 30x40ft containers to the ground, plus many more.
Jason Moir, managing director of Dyce Carriers Ltd, said, “We recognised over the course of 2018 that there was an increase in demand for freight to be distributed to and from the Central Belt, specifically Grangemouth, due to it being the largest port in Scotland.
“The opening of the facility demonstrates our commitment to meet the demands of our clients as well as our ambition to grow the business. Going forward, the Grangemouth facility will provide us with the additional strengths that we need to attract new business from a wide range of areas.
“It will allow Dyce Carriers to uplift freight directly from ships, unload and deliver in a more streamlined operation to customers within the UK along our existing and new trunk routes.
