Muckaway tipper specialists, Aggrecom Ltd of Horsley Woodhouse, Derbyshire have put a new Volvo road sweeper truck into service. Supplied by David Eyres, Truck Sales Executive at Hartshorne Motor Services Ltd, the Volvo FL 4×2 rigid is powered by a D8K engine producing 250hp.

A manual six-speed overdrive gearbox was selected for accurate operator control when road sweeping at slow speeds. The left hand drive chassis also features a specialised chassis specification for fitment of its Stocks Sweeper bodywork, with a 130-litre plastic diesel tank mounted in the rear overhand between the two frames. A sun visor, polished rear view mirror guards and a roof top light bar add to the truck’s customised look, whilst Aggrecom’s newly-designed cab wrap livery was designed, supplied and applied by local company, Ashfield Signs.

The Stocks Sweepers S6400 sweeper body has a 6.5 cubic metre capacity and a twin-discharge system. Powered by a JCB auxiliary engine, the clean water tank can hold up to 1,600 litres, whilst the rotary brushes give a 3,650mm maximum swept path. Ordered with a Volvo Blue Service Contract, the new Volvo FL brings Aggrecom’s fleet of road sweepers up to a total of four.

“Our road sweepers work in a large radius around Derbyshire, together with the East and West Midlands. They also venture further south, in and around London on a regular basis,” notes Rob Fox, Owner at Aggrecom Ltd.

Fran Lowe is the Aggrecom driver assigned to the company’s latest Volvo FL and he enthuses about the truck, “I settled into the Volvo quickly and it’s a big step up from the other marque I came off.”

Fran adds. “The initial vehicle handover process from Hartshorne in Alfreton was also superb. I like the four-camera safety system, the reversing parking sensor and the extra lights for night sweeping. The driver’s seat is proving extremely comfortable and the interior design impresses me. A bottle holder in the right place may seem trivial, but detail like that makes all the difference to a driver.”

“Our new FL road sweeper typifies Volvo’s strong product and service levels and the complete Volvo trucks package is a good experience from start to finish. To me it’s all about the sales and service package, the dealer has so much to do with our perception of Volvo,” concludes Rob Fox.
