Fagan & Whalley celebrated their 90th Anniversary in style earlier this month with two different but contrasting events where they opened their doors to customers followed by a day of fun with staff and families.

On the first day of celebrations, Fagan & Whalley welcomed customers, guests and suppliers to an open day at their new head office, Albion House, Padiham and the Burnley Bridge Distribution Hub. Visitors were introduced to members of the F&W team as well as being taken through the history of the business in the board room. The key elements of Compliance, Customer Service, Recruitment, Safety and Training were show cased along with the company’s five core services; Transport, Distribution, Warehousing, Maintenance and F&W Professional Training.

Having been wined and dined, the guests were then taken on a coach tour of Fagan & Whalley’s main operations site at Padiham before travelling 3 miles to Burnley Bridge. There they explored the new distribution hub, that stands at 19 metres high and is the second largest on the 70-acre Burnley Bridge site. With 25,000 pallet locations, parking for up to 80 trailers and 10 loading bays, it significantly increases the firm’s warehousing capacity and has created 25 new jobs. An overview of the operation was given by the warehouse team and lucky individuals were taken on a ride into the pallet racking in the Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) trucks supplied by Crown Lift Trucks. Back at Albion House networking continued throughout the afternoon before a transformation took place for a very different celebration.

The next day saw Fagan & Whalley’s Burnley Bridge Distribution Hub as the site for a Family Fun Day to thank the 300 staff and their families for their part in the company’s success, with over 900 people attending the event. With attractions including a traditional fun fair, vintage truck display, face painting, balloon modelling and the ever-popular model truck racing supplied by The Racing Bug, everybody was kept busy and were also entertained with live music and plenty of food and drink. The afternoon concluded with speeches by directors Graham and Stephen Fagan, who thanked corporate supporters for making the day such a success and who also drew the raffle.

Fagan & Whalley Ltd pride themselves on being a truly modern logistics provider offering a first-class service with the highest quality equipment. Nine decades and six family generations from its inception, with 2017 marking their 90th year in business, they still retain all the determination, spirit and drive that their founders had on their very first day.
