The Road Haulage Association is horrified that a lorry driver was shot in the head whilst driving near Cambridge.

A ball bearing was shot at a lorry on the A14 near Fen Ditton, Cambridgeshire at 3.45pm on Sunday 30 September smashing the windscreen. The driver suffered head injuries but managed to bring his vehicle to a safe stop.

RHA chief executive, Richard Burnett said: “This is absolutely shocking. The driver must have been terrified. Had he not been able to keep control of his vehicle it could have had tragic consequences.

“If anyone has information about this incident it’s vital that they contact the police to help them bring those responsible to justice.”

Call the police on 101 quoting incident 271 of Sunday 30 September or visit www.cambs.police.uk/report. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or go to www.crimestoppers-uk.org

Police in Cambridgeshire say this is an isolated incident but urge motorists to be cautious and report any suspicious activity. Detectives want to speak to anyone who has dash cam footage and particularly want to speak to anyone who was on a nearby footbridge.
