In another first, O’Donovan Waste Disposal, one of London’s leading independent waste management companies, is celebrating success after being announced as the winner of the new ‘Urban Delivery Operator of the Year’ award at last week’s Motor Transport Awards.

The prestigious Motor Transport Awards (known as the ‘Oscars’ of the transport industry) is in its 33rd year and recognises outstanding achievements and celebrates excellence in the road freight transport industry.  The Awards were held at the Grosvenor House Hotel on 3 July and the Urban Delivery Operator of the Year is a new category for 2019 acknowledging fleet operators working in increasingly crowded cities whilst complying with the growing body of environmental rules and regulations.

O’Donovan’s win is a huge achievement for the family-run SME and acknowledges the company’s investment and commitment to  implement initiatives tackling key city delivery challenges such as emissions, noise, vulnerable road user safety and congestion.  The company has a robust strategy that prioritises procurement of low emissions, direct-vision vehicles as well as using innovation, technology and training to reduce environmental impact whilst still providing an outstanding quality of service to clients.

Michael O’Donovan, Chairman of O’Donovan Waste, said of the award win: “This award is a huge success for our team. It’s a fantastic achievement, which recognises our commitment and hard work to not only deliver excellent service and add value for our clients in terms of compliance and health and safety; but to prioritising our commitment to the community and the environment through our sustainable working practices and innovations.”

O’Donovan was shortlisted alongside DPD UK, Bimson Haulage, Restore Datashred and Wilson James for the Urban Delivery Operator of the Year award sponsored by Prohire Total Fleet Solutions.
