Jacqueline O’Donovan, managing director of O’Donovan Waste Disposal, has been named as Industry Champion at this year’s FTA everywoman in Transport and Logistics Awards. Jacqueline was recognised for her passion and drive to succeed in the sector since the age of 17, and her determination to fundamentally change and improve the transport and logistics industry and the development of those within it.
The awards programme was first launched to raise awareness of the varied opportunities within transport and logistics, whilst creating visible role models to inspire and encourage more women to pursue a career in the industry. Furthermore, the Industry Champion Award sponsored by Asda Logistics Services, was presented to Jacqueline for championing the progress of women working in the sector.
Jacqueline is the MD of O’Donovan Waste Disposal Ltd, one of London’s leading independent construction and demolition waste management companies. Based in Tottenham, the family-run business employs 160 members of staff and operates a 90-strong fleet of HGVs across London. With over 50 years’ experience, the company boasts a turnover of £19.25m.
In an industry worth £574m, Jacqueline has led O’Donovan to strong year-on-year growth. In the past five years alone, sales have more than doubled in spite of the recession.
