For the second year in succession, DAF Trucks has scooped the ‘Truck of the Year’ title for its market-leading DAF LF range at the 2018 Commercial Fleet Awards. The award follows last year’s Fleet Truck of the Year prize for the DAF LF, and again in 2016 with the Urban Delivery Truck category.

The gala dinner and awards ceremony, at the Hilton Metropole Hotel in Birmingham, was attended by 600 fleet transport professionals from across the automotive sector.

Against stiff competition, the DAF LF emerged triumphant for its versatility, reliability, aftersales support and clear all-round appeal for fleet operators. Judges said, “The LF retained its title as fleets again vote it their favourite truck. The LF’s versatility in urban environments is a defining feature, while its spacious cab and refined driving experience make it a firm favourite with drivers. Strong support from DAF, plus reliability and low running costs combine for an unbeatable package.

Alongside its competitors, the DAF LF’s stablemates – the versatile CF and premium duty XF ranges – were also nominated for the award. The CF and XF were also voted ‘International Truck of the Year 2018’, and subsequently received national Truck of the Year titles in Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia and Northern Ireland.

Attending the event in Birmingham, and picking up the Truck of the Year award for the second time, was DAF Trucks’ Director of Fleet Sales, Ian Grant, “We’re naturally thrilled to win again,” he said, “and in the presence of such esteemed company. There are some very capable trucks in this category, and our LF has proved itself top truck yet again. The Commercial Fleet Awards really does attract the great and the good from the fleet sector, with the event having now firmly established itself on the transport industry’s social calendar.”
