Miniclipper Logistics has opened its brand-new distribution and logistics centre (DLC) in Dunstable as part of its continued expansion plans.

The £5.5m site investment in its 50th anniversary year, will enable Miniclipper to handle higher volumes of freight 24/7 and meet the increased nationwide demand for its warehousing and transportation services.

The new site in Dunstable is 4.5-acres in size, double the size of its previous site in Leighton Buzzard, and has seen Miniclipper relocate its entire transport operation, which includes a fleet of 40 MAN 7.5-tonne, 18-tonne, and 44-tonne trucks and 30 trailers.

Adding to its already extensive infrastructure Miniclipper now operates over 450,000 square feet of storage and over 38,000 pallet spaces across five sites in Leighton Buzzard, Houghton Regis, and Dunstable.

Miniclipper has continually invested in expansion in the Dunstable area due to its improved road network and its proximity to the M1 which provides great access to the north and south of the country.

As part of its wider investment Miniclipper has also spent £500K modernising its group IT, telecoms, and security systems as well as significant site and office improvements to provide an improved working environment for its employees.

“We are proud to be opening our new transport operation in Dunstable. We have been looking for the right site for three years and it is amazing to finally move in and push forward with our growth plans. This new site will allow us to work even more closely with our current customers and help them meet their own goals and growth expectations. Dunstable is a great place to be geographically, and we will continue to invest in the area,” said Jayne Masters, sales director, Miniclipper Logistics.
