Bibby Distribution’s track record for reliability has enabled vehicle glass repair and replacement specialist Autoglass® and wholesale and distributor, Laddaw®, to set a new standard for rapid windscreen repair services.

The 3PL handles overnight delivery of replacement windscreens from one of Europe’s largest glass distribution centres in Bardon, Leicestershire, to more than 30 Autoglass® and Laddaw® sites across the UK and Ireland before 7am, 5 days a week – with an average 99.8 per cent on-time in full (OTIF) rate since the contract began in June 2018.

John Cooper, Head of Logistics at Autoglass® and Laddaw® says: “We originally selected Bibby Distribution as our supply chain partner because of the company’s reputation for reliability – and that decision has been completely validated by the fantastic service we’ve received. We have total confidence that our technicians will have the glass they need, when they need it.”

As part of the contract, Bibby Distribution has equipped all trucks with demountable Moffett forklifts, meaning that deliveries can be safely unloaded overnight at unmanned sites where materials handling equipment may not otherwise be available.

Building on this, Bibby Distribution has also expanded its support by developing a glass recycling supply chain. Damaged windscreens that have been replaced by Autoglass® are collected by the 3PL’s tipper trailer fleet and transported to Scunthorpe, for onward shipping to a specialist glass recycling plant in Belgium.

Cooper says: “Our partnership with Bibby Distribution is delivering tangible improvements in efficiency. We started with the company’s answer to making unloading quicker and easier, and since then, the team has been proactive in assisting us to continue to reduce our environmental impact and boosting our supply chain resilience with additional warehouse capacity. It has been a complete success.”
