The company D A Miller & Sons based in Northern Ireland have been driving with Knapen moving floor trailers for more than 15 years. The company recently took delivery of the first in a new series of customer-specific trailers.
D A Miller & Sons is a family-owned business specialising in recycling. Their regular cargo includes Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment. In consultation with the highly experienced Ryan Miller, the trailers are designed to perfectly
suit Miller’s specific transport requirements. Consideration was for example given to the different types of cargoes carried, the wear pattern in existing trailers, the maintenance costs, ease of use and driver safety. The combination of more than 34 years’ experience in the moving floor trailer sector at Knapen Trailers and the pioneering vision of the company D A Miller & Sons means that these new NEXT trailers are the ideal example of our hot topic Lowest Cost of Ownership.
The entire trailer was custom built. The basis is the NEXT trailer with its robust Design lighting, which has been welcomed throughout the market with positive reviews. The trailers are fully automatically operated with the well-known Knapen Trailers remote control system. This allows the driver to operate the moving floor, the automatic Movable bulkhead sheet and the PowerSheet®. Just like Knapen Trailers, Miller is a market leader, and wants to offer its drivers maximum ease and safety.
The decision was also taken to install a super-strong Keith® V18 aluminium floor, combined with wear plates over the entire length. This combination offers Miller a durable solution for the transport of end-of-life electrical appliances, within the recycling sector.
