Haulier marks milestone by hosting special dinner.

Leading manufacturer MAN Truck & Bus UK is supporting Jempson’s Haulage on its 150th company anniversary by helping to sponsor the celebrations.

It is a major milestone for the Rye-based haulier, John Jempson & Son, and various activities have been organised to mark the anniversary, culminating in a celebratory dinner.

Around 150 people were invited to the Cavalry and Guards Club, in Piccadilly, with guest speakers including Simon Elliott, Managing Director of MAN Truck & Bus UK.

Mr Elliott said: “Jempson’s has enjoyed a long and successful history and we are proud that MAN trucks has played a long-standing role in that heritage.

“We are delighted to have sponsored their celebrations and wish the company every success in the future as they continue to create new milestones.”

John Jempson & Son started out in the 1860s transporting timber with a horse and cart. The company began using its first truck after the First World War but since the early 1980s, the family-run firm has been a strong supporter of the MAN brand with the fleet now mainly consisting of its trucks.

As part of the company anniversary celebrations, a golden vinyl-wrapped tractor unit was launched based on Jempson’s latest MAN 24.480 TGX EfficientLine Euro-6. The company also has a restored 1937 Commer N3 rigid.

Jempson’s Managing Director Mark Chamberlain said: “We really value our relationship with MAN who have treated us like one of the family for many years, and who have been hugely supportive in our sesquicentennial year.”
