Returnloads.net has seen an increase in the number of European based haulage companies joining their UK freight exchange over the last few months.

Newly appointed Sales and Marketing Manager, Matthew Spendiff-Smith, explains ‘We identified that there are thousands of non UK haulage companies that use our roads every day. They come over from other EU states to deliver goods in to the UK, and the majority of the time they pick up goods in the UK and take them back to where they originally came from. What we discovered was that although these trucks had return loads going back to their country from the UK, they did not have a load going from their UK drop off point to their UK pick up point. With this is mind we contacted a number of European haulage companies to see if they could benefit by finding the ‘in-between’ loads before they headed back out of the UK, the response we have received has been fantastic.’

Matthew continued, ‘With over 3,000 loads on our site every day we are now not only helping UK based companies fill their empty trucks but also European companies as well, resulting in more loads getting covered and less empty vehicles on UK roads’.
Returnloads.net has been operating since 2000 and helps haulage companies and couriers find available delivery work and empty vehicles whilst at the same time helping them reduce their carbon footprint.

Returnloads.net now has around 50 non UK transport companies who are reducing their carbon footprints by finding back loads for when they are delivering and picking up in the UK. If each of these new members were to find just one back load a week from their freight exchange it would result in a reduction of empty running and would save around 500 CO2 (tones) per year.
