Leading truck manufacturer MAN Truck & Bus UK has supplied four topspec MAN TGX Extra 26.480s to Blackburn-based CSH.
The tractor units are replacements for older MANs in the fleet.
Company owner Stuart Howarth said: “We have always run MANs and we have an MAN on a 16 plate with the same engine as these new trucks and are impressed with that. It is doing remarkable well and we are hoping to see the same economy n these new vehicles too.
“We have telematics in the trucks and believe it is important that the drivers are aware of how they are driving and what they can be doing to achieve better economy. We will be encouraging them to make the most of the MAN EfficientCruise system too.
“We do a mixture of tanker and curtainsider work and we are deciding where we are going to deploy the trucks. One is already out working and we are waiting for a driver to come back off holiday before putting the second one out.
“The other two may go in to the tanker side and needs to be retrofitted to meet ADR standards.
“The driver acceptance for the trucks is excellent. They are all up for it and especially the tanker drivers who leave the depot on a Monday morning and don’t return until Friday.”
He added: “We have tried other marques, but MAN offers us good support and these trucks are such high-spec.”
MAN sales executive Neil Hincks said: “CSH are longstanding customers of MAN and I am glad that they are impressed with the levels of service they receive. These trucks really are top-spec, with leather seats, a fridge, alloy wheels and the MAN infotainment systems and sat-nav.
“I am sure they will deliver efficiency and economy to Stuart and will be well-liked by their drivers.”
