The logistics division of the company (Velta Logistics Ltd) has recently taken on additional warehouse premises, having outgrown the current location in little over 3 years. The additional facility, just a few hundred yards from the our existing location boasts a 100,000 square foot warehouse, a 15,000 square foot 3 floor mezzanine area and a 10,000 square foot separate e-commerce picking area. Fully customs bonded, the new facilities also boast state of the art RF barcoding and CFSP status.
Velta Logistics Manager, Neil Cottrell commented on the move; “We decided to find a new location close to our former site, as the Eastways industrial estate in Witham is ideally located right next to the A12, offering easy access towards Felixstowe, the Midlands and London. With the new warehouse space being more than twice the size of our last building, it provides us with the scope to further develop the business, as well as enhance our service offerings to our current client base.”
Explaining the function of the logistics centre, Neil commented: “We bring containers direct from the Port of Felixstowe to Witham, unpack the containers in our warehouses and store products for our clients for distribution from there – whether internet purchase or retail. We also do reworking, labelling and quality control, especially for e-commerce fulfilment.”
The new logistics site will be the head office for Velta Logistics Ltd whilst the existing facility will remain the head office for Velta International Ltd.
In addition to the enhanced logistics capabilities, we have recently expanded our air freight division following an increase in demand for both import and export services.
In August Velta opened a second air freight office in Manchester, complementing the already established operation at Heathrow. The new office enables the team to handle air freight services more efficiently; providing direct control and consistency on all shipments from the North of the country, as well as cutting down transit times for client’s goods that previously would have entered the country via London.
The opening of the new air freight office comes just months after Velta established a Glasgow badge, enabling faster clearance on goods arriving into the UK via Scotland, and enhances the comprehensive business model already offered across the organisation on the transportation, storage and fulfilment of goods.
Taking pride in the standard of customer services that the team at Velta offer, Doug Reynolds, Managing Director of Velta commented, “We work on an ethos of absolute quality and value the opinions of our client’s; Through offering the personal touch and building close bonds with our client’s, we have been able to develop our business model to meet their requirements, which I believe has been pivotal to our success. Our affiliation with a range of industry membership organisations is testament to the reputation that we have established in the provision of reliable, professional supply chain services.”
Velta is the official logistics provider for the Music Industry Association, which counts most UK music companies among its members, and the Pro Light and Sound Association; the voice for the entertainment technology industry. Velta are also associated partners for the British Toy and Hobby Association, as well as having established a particularly strong reputation in the bathroom and footwear markets.
Speaking of future plans for the company, the ambition, drive and enthusiasm of the organisation is clearly outlined by Doug; “It has always been the aim to expand our services, but to be where we are at now is phenomenal. That’s not to say that we are going to stop where we are now. We will continue to listen to our clients and invest in services that help to provide them with more effective and efficient supply chain solutions.”
