The UK’s favourite parcel delivery company DPD, has been honoured by consumer champion Which? with a Special Award presented at a ceremony in central London.
DPD was singled out for a special award this year, to recognise the fact that the company has offered the best in customer care and driven change in its sector. DPD topped the Which? tables for courier companies with a huge customer satisfaction score and meets all the criteria for the Which? campaign to stamp out Dodgy Deliveries.
The ninth Which? Awards ceremony was co-hosted by TV presenter Steph McGovern and Which? Group Chief Executive Peter Vicary-Smith. This year’s ceremony featured a keynote speech from Sajid Javid, Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, on the role of good business in creating a sustainable economy.
The Awards recognise the businesses that are consistently focused on the needs of their customers, have achieved positive change and deliver excellent products and services that score highly in Which? research and testing. The Which? Awards are completely independent and businesses can’t put themselves forward to win an award.
Recognition from Which? follows hot on the heels of DPD winning the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in April 2015, for its unique Predict innovation. Predict gives all customers an exact one-hour delivery slot in advance so that they don’t have to wait in all day for their parcel. If they can’t be home they can use a series of ‘in-flight’ options in real time to tell their driver to deliver to a specific neighbour or their nearest DPD Pickup parcel shop.

“The parcel sector is an incredibly tough one to operate in, but this just shows that consistently good customer service is achievable. We provide a first class service to customers 52 weeks of the year and that means getting it right millions of times every single week. It is a heck of a challenge for any company, but it is what we love doing. I’m very proud of my team and this award is for the thousands of DPD staff who do an outstanding job, seven days a week.”
Which? group chief executive, Peter Vicary-Smith said: “A Which? Award is our way of recognising the businesses that share our ideals and offer products and services that improve their customers’ lives. Good businesses can truly be consumer champions. By treating customers fairly, businesses will be rewarded for their efforts with more confident consumers helping to drive growth in the economy.”
DPD is the fastest growing major parcel delivery company in the UK and has created over 4,000 new jobs in the last five years as a result of unprecedented growth and £250m worth of UK investment. Construction of DPD’s new £100m parcel hub at Hinckley in the East Midlands is now complete. The facility, which will be the largest of its kind in Europe, is on schedule to open later in 2015, creating another 1,000 permanent full-time jobs.
