Vehicle Vision, the developers behind the pioneering Audi Cam service for Audi UK have been chosen by the Freight Transport Association (FTA) to support the expansion of video in its industry leading Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS).

The FTA is one of the biggest business groups in the UK, supporting, shaping and standing up for efficient logistics. The FTA VIS service was introduced in 1966 and has become one of the most established and highly recognised services offered to its members. The VIS team of engineers cover the UK and Republic of Ireland and works with some of the biggest names in logistics, as well as SME’s.

VIS field engineers will use the Vehicle Vision app from their mobile phones to support their various inspection types and upload the personalised videos to the FTA’s driver and fleet compliance Vision platform for reporting and communication to FTA members.

Working to a tight deadline, Vehicle Vision liaised with the FTA to integrate its system into the
FTA’s Vision platform and field engineers were trained online, leading to a successful launch in August.

Jerry Kane, Commercial Director at FTA said: “As the UK’s largest trade association for Logistics, our mission is to support safe and efficient operations within our sector. Our industry leading Vehicle Inspection Services are now being further enhanced by the option of a video to demonstrate faults in a way that narrative or photographs just can’t show. We have been providing this service for a major HGV OEM since 2016 and now have a desire to make it available to all our customers across the UK. Having looked at the service providers in this sector, Vehicle Vision demonstrated their capability and appetite to help us achieve our objective and we look forward to working with them.”

Steve Dean, Vehicle Vision Managing Director said: “We’re delighted to be supporting the FTA with their video expansion plans, it’s a privilege to be working with such a respected and influential association. As in this project, personalised video is a powerful business tool: presenting customers with evidence rather than telling them; demonstrating transparency in processes; and enhancing trust in relationships. Personalised video is a natural progression for many inspection, service and repair functions and we have a proven platform to help businesses achieve their ambitions.”

The themes of demonstrating transparency and enhancing trust are common across multiple industries – automotive, logistics, construction, utilities and repair. It has become the norm for many service and sales providers to quickly and easily show their customers rather than just telling them.
