South Yorkshire-based, Hallam Express Ltd. has added five new Volvo trucks to its 40-strong, road transport fleet with the new arrivals consisting of one FH tractor unit, two FE rigids and two FL rigids.

Kevan Morris, Area Sales Manager at Crossroads Truck and Bus Limited, Rotherham, supplied Hallam Express Ltd.’s five Volvos. The FH-540 6×2 tractor unit will serve as the company’s flagship vehicle and its specification includes a Globetrotter Cab, Volvo D13K engine rated at 540hp and a 12-speed I-Shift Dual Clutch, automated manual transmission system. 

In addition to metallic black cab paintwork and Alcoa Dura-Bright alloy wheels, chassis side skirts from SB Components, a sliver finish front grille and Kelsa light bars all give this flagship a high presentation standard. Inside the driver Jack Garlic, who has clocked up over 25 years loyal service with the company, benefits from Volvo’s Media Navigation Package, leather seats and a microwave oven. A rotating passenger seat and TV preparation will also add to overnight stops.

Hallam Express Ltd.’s two new Volvo FE-320 6×2 sleeper cab rigids are equipped with eight litre, 320hp Volvo diesel engines and I-Sync automated transmission systems. The 5800mm wheelbase chassis come with 28 foot Lawrence David curtainside bodies. The latter use Armour Sheet + load bearing curtains, 21mm Wistrans flooring and D’Hollandia cantilever tail lifts.

FORS Bronze members, Hallam Express Ltd also opted for an additional lower passenger door glazing panels, reversing and nearside camera systems, in addition to a cycle safety system.

Rounding off the latest delivery is a pair of FL-240 4×2 rigid chassis with 5600mm wheelbases. These 16 tonners feature Volvo’s roomy Medium day cabs, in addition to D5K engines rated at 240hp. The pair’s Lawrence David curtainside bodies carry a similar specification to the 26-tonne FEs, but with an overall length of 24 feet. 

The five new trucks will also benefit from Volvo Gold Service Contracts that guarantee 100 per cent uptime. These will be carried out at Crossroads Truck and Bus Limited, Rotherham.
