Oil Monster, the Deeside-based waste oil collector and recycler, has introduced the first Renault Trucks Range Ds into its fleet. The move follows Renault Trucks’ success with Oil Monster’s sister brand, J&G Environmental, and sees fleet additions of two new 18-tonne Range D trucks supplied by JDS Trucks on a full repair and maintenance contract, with a further order to follow.

The 250hp Range D vehicles will play a pivotal role in this expansion as Fleet Engineer for CSG, Mick Arnold, explains: “Previously we have experienced issues with trucks being too big to fit down smaller streets and access points. This is where the Range D comes into its own; its manoeuvrability is excellent and the size of the truck is ideal whilst still retaining an excellent payload.”

Driver comfort was a top priority for Oil Monster. As Mick Arnold explains, “Our drivers spend the majority of their day in the vehicle, so we need to ensure that their working environment is safe, comfortable and reliable. We felt that the Range D ticked all these boxes and more. If we have happy drivers, we know that this passes on with the service we provide.”

So far the feedback from drivers has been positive, as Mick continues: “They enjoy all the mod cons and find it generally a more comfortable drive. They’ve also seen a noticeable, positive difference in the fuel consumption, which is significantly better than previous vehicles, and clearly more economical and environmentally friendly.”

Part of CSG, business is booming for Oil Monster, which has enjoyed significant growth in the last year, acquiring the Range Ds to expand its operational network and service a greater area of the UK. Oil Monster’s growth is due, in part, to the company’s investment in new online features allowing it to interact and react more quickly with customers, delivering a fast and reliable service that the company’s reputation is built on.

“The Range Ds are playing a decisive role in delivering the promises we make to our customers,” concludes Mick.

The new Range Ds, equipped with tank by COBO (Spain) supplied and fitted by HDE in Castleford, collect waste oil across the country, mainly servicing the automotive and engineering industries.
