The world’s leading medical experts in heart and lung surgery will come together in Belfast this week to showcase their latest research and findings at The Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery’s (SCTS) annual conference.

The event organisers have appointed Europa Showfreight, a division of £100m turnover independent logistics business Europa Worldwide Group, as the sole forwarder for the event which is taking place from March 12th – 14th at Belfast Waterfront. The Europa team will be responsible for transporting and handling the unique and highly delicate cargo, bringing its specialist exhibition logistics expertise to the fore.

Representatives from the top international medical companies from across the globe will attend the event, as well as surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses, surgical care practitioners, child governance leads, database managers and allied health professionals.

Europa Showfreight Manager Jeff Broom said specialist medical exhibitions were one of the fastest growing business areas for his team.

He said: “We were appointed as sole official on site forwarder for this event for SCTS due to a glowing referrall from the event manager on a previous medical exhibition. We’ve developed a very strong reputation for our specific logistics services and for our support for organisers, exhibitors and contractors at medical events. As a result we’re getting regular bookings for events such as this one.

“Medical events are unique in that the equipment on show is of very high value and is both intricately manufactured and finely tuned whilst also being bulky – so it requires extra careful handling. Each venue is different, so successfully managing the delivery and installation of goods and equipment relies on our ability to offer bespoke and tailored services to the organisers and contractors.”

Europa Showfreight we will be arranging shipments for various UK and overseas exhbitors for the event and ensuring that their equipment is delivered on a very tight time scale.

The SCTS annual meeting takes place at a different location each year, having previously been held in London, Brighton and Edinburgh. International professor and doctor guest speakers at the event will this year come from as far a field as the University of Melbourne, the Cardiothoracic Centre of Monaco and the Columbia University Medical Centre in New York.

Europa Worldwide Group’s specialist division has managed logistics and project handling at a range of high profile events all over the world, including SPOGA in Cologne, Expo Vending in Brazil, Heli Expo UK, WHEC in Seoul and SIFE in Shenzen. Last year (2016) Europa Showfreight saw its most successful year for a decade with a double digit increase in turnover, profits and consignments with much of the success coming post Brexit.

Europa Worldwide Group employs 600 people across 12 sites in the UK plus Hong Kong and is represented in 100 countries.
