White Rose Roofing’s relationship with Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire Mercedes-Benz Dealer Northside Truck & Van has reached another level, following the arrivals of four new vehicles.

The small Citans and mid-sized Vito models replace the Birstall, West Yorkshire-based company’s previous vans, which also wore three-pointed stars, and had provided reliable, cost-effective service for three years.

“Those older vans were our first from Mercedes-Benz and they performed superbly,” recalled Director Richard McDonald. “We bought them second-hand but they were in excellent condition, and never let us down. Naturally, therefore, when the time came to replace them, we were always going to lean towards more of the same.

“Northside’s Sales Executive Adam Crompton supplied the used vans, and has remained in regular contact, wanting to know how they’re running, and learning about our business. When I sent him a text explaining that we were in the market for some replacements, he jumped on it immediately.

“Before I knew it Adam had provided all the information I could have asked for, specifying the right vehicles for the job, and providing detailed quotes for finance and servicing. I was so impressed with his customer service there was no way I could go elsewhere. The business has grown in the last three years and the package Adam proposed to us was very competitively priced, so we were pleased to be able to choose new vans this time.”

White Rose Roofing’s latest vehicles are all crew van versions with second rows of seats, allowing each to carry up to four passengers as well as a driver. The two Citans are Extra-long 109 CDI variants, while one of the Vito models is a 114 CDI Long, and the other a Sport 119 CDI Compact.

The company undertakes a wide range of flat roofing projects, involving anything from a single-storey domestic kitchen extension to a large factory or other commercial premises. The Citans and Long Vito are used to transport installation teams, as well as their tools and materials, to working sites across the north of England.

The dynamic Vito Sport, meanwhile, is Richard McDonald’s personal vehicle. Designed to ‘work hard and play hard’, it combines outstanding comfort, practicality and safety features, with eye-catching visual enhancements including 17-inch, five-spoke alloy wheels, colour-coded bumpers, chrome trim and sidebars, and custom Sport mats.

The range-topping, 2.1-litre twin-turbo diesel which powers Mr McDonald’s new vehicle combines punchy, 190 hp performance with impressive fuel-efficiency, and is paired as standard with a slick-shifting 7G-Tronic seven-speed automatic transmission.

The Vito is also available in front-wheel drive form, but the Sport version, and White Rose Roofing’s 140 hp 114 CDI, employ rear-wheel drive. The 90 hp Citan 109 CDI, meanwhile, is highly cost-effective to operate, and capable of returning up to 65.7 mpg (combined cycle).

The subject of a flexible, low-cost Agility funding agreement from Mercedes-Benz Finance, White Rose Roofing’s new vans will be maintained under a fixed-price Mercedes-Benz ServiceCare plan by the workshop team at Northside Truck & Van’s Leeds branch.

“The Agility package provides us with a range of options at the end of the term, while the maintenance arrangement gives us total peace of mind and allows us to budget ahead with confidence, knowing there are no nasty surprises around the corner,” said Mr McDonald.

Like all Mercedes-Benz vans, the vehicles also came with three-year, unlimited mileage manufacturer’s warranties, and MobiloVan cover, which includes free, 24-hour emergency breakdown assistance. Incidents are attended by factory-trained Mercedes-Benz technicians who fit only GenuineParts, and in the vast majority of cases faults are rectified quickly at the roadside.
