Renault Trucks is offering a new, audio, navigation and entertainment system on its Range T, C and K trucks. Called Roadpad, it is an on-board assistant for the driver, enabling them to listen to music, use their telephones hands-free and obtain navigation assistance.

Available through a secondary 7-inch high-resolution ‘drag-and-drop’ touch-screen, Roadpad will be the perfect road companion for drivers as it gives access to several key services in the one device. Driving safety is also enhanced by Roadpad’s ability to display images from compatible camera systems.

Andrew Scott, Head of Product Management for Renault Trucks UK and Ireland, observes, “At a time when drivers receive information from so many different sources, it’s great that Roadpad enables them to manage so much of it through this single, easy-to-use screen.”

Roadpad includes an enhanced HGV GPS system linked to a TomTom navigation system which includes many beneficial features such as the option of viewing a route in 2-D or 3-D formats, as well as obtaining real-time information on traffic conditions. It also offers easy access to the Meteo weather forecast app and Google Maps.

Roadpad aims to make journeys more pleasant and enable safer driving as it has been designed to adapt to drivers’ lifestyles. One benefit is that Roadpad has the option of pairing two telephones simultaneously, meaning that drivers can enjoy hands-free access to both their work and personal mobile phones. One device is categorised as the priority phone for consulting contact lists or making calls, but incoming calls and text messages can be received from both. The priority phone can easily be changed using the user-friendly menu.

Roadpad also enables drivers to enjoy their music library without taking their eyes off the road, as it gives access to the Deezer streaming platform. They can also listen to their favourite radio programmes in DAB+ (Digital Audio Broadcasting), benefiting from optimal sound quality.

For increased safety for the driver and other road users, Roadpad is pre-equipped to receive images from up to four cameras – side cameras for optimal visibility, including for vulnerable road users, and rear cameras for load safety, including when coupling trailers.

As drivers need to make use of so much information in their daily business Roadpad’s ability to integrate several of the services which are fundamental this couldn’t some at a better time.
