Lymm Truckwash has been thanking customers and key worker HGV drivers with free refreshments whilst proving essential truck washing services.

Lymm Truckwash washes around 60,000 trucks a year and is now starting to welcome back more of its regular customers as further businesses get up and running again. During the current pandemic, Managing Director, Laura Cardwell, has been ensuring the business can continue to provide the essential service to truck drivers.

To say thank you to key worker drivers, Laura and her team have been handing out free tea/coffee and wrapped biscuits to drivers – with many catering facilities closed at service stations across the UK this has been much appreciated. They also welcomed a Scania hospitality truck on site which provided refreshments and merchandise, including mugs to brighten drivers’ days. In addition to this, Laura has arranged for The Ice Cream Farm to deliver ‘socially distanced’ free ice cream on-site in the coming weeks.

As well as this, the payment kiosk has been covered in rainbow drawings from local children, with messages of support for key workers.  With many drivers sleeping in their cabs and away from home for several weeks at a time, Laura has also been doing her best to keep drivers’ company and entertained via social media.

Extra precautions have been implemented on-site, including; social distancing measures with staff keeping at least two meters apart and customers pulling up two to four meters away from the driver height kiosk, regular handwashing and cleaning of communal facilities, full PPE clothing for staff and a contactless payment system.

Laura comments: “Our aim is to keep the trucks on our roads as clean as possible to help restrict the spread of the virus whilst they deliver essential supplies, plus keep the drivers and our staff safe.

“Truck washing is a crucial service; it is a safety and legal requirement for HGV’s to be clean – lights and number plates especially. To help keep the inside of trucks clean we have also been offering cab sanitiser kits to drivers.

“Right now it’s all about us working together and everyone mucking in. As a family business I get involved in all aspects and enjoy every bit, I have been working in the kiosk two days a week and even washing some trucks.

“I’m really proud to be doing our bit to help and it’s great to see so many regular customers returning. My team have been amazing, they have got on with the job and kept going, I can’t thank them enough. Providing free refreshments and a friendly face at the kiosk is just one thing we can do to say thank you to all the key workers doing an amazing job.”

As an essential service to the supply chain, Lymm Truckwash is remaining open on normal hours: Monday to Friday 7am to 5pm, Saturday 7am to 11.30am.
