Craig Brown, Plant & Transport Manager at Galldris Construction Ltd has become the 900th FORS Practitioner to graduate from the keystone fleet management training programme delivered by FORS, the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme.
“Without fail,” said Craig Brown, “all the workshops contained essential information to help me better execute my daily responsibilities. Group talks were particularly insightful, generating ideas and gaining a different perspective from individuals who do the same job as me albeit from different transport sectors.”
Part of the dedicated FORS Professional training programme, the highly regarded FORS Practitioner syllabus comprises a series of ten workshops covering the full breadth of roles incumbent upon today’s transport managers, along with their associated skillsets.
Galldris Construction is a FORS Silver member, one of 897 FORS Silver accredited operators reaping the benefits of FORS best practice. The company, celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2018, has also confirmed its firm commitment to attaining FORS Gold status.
“Since embarking on the FORS Practitioner journey,” continued Craig, “I have implemented a number of key developments within our own operation which have resulted in improved safety for cyclists and drivers, better reporting with the fitment of telematics and a more comprehensive driver training programme courtesy of FORS online eLearning modules. Importantly,” said Craig, “There is now a commitment from my company, and from me personally, to continue to improve the management of our vehicles and drivers.”
FORS Practitioner workshops are held nationally and may be undertaken in any order with FORS Practitioner status attained only when all ten workshops are completed. A comprehensive and detailed set of workshop topics range from ‘Managing driver fitness and health’ to the recently added ‘Managing noise in logistics’.
FORS Director, John Hix, added, “Craig is one of a growing number of transport professionals who have raised their game as a FORS Practitioner. He, and his fellow graduates, will go on to enjoy flourishing careers in the transport industry, at the same time delivering key safety and commercial benefits within their operations.
“Training is a cornerstone of FORS accreditation,” John said, “and it extends to our three principles of safety, efficiency and environmental protection. Accordingly, it’s hugely encouraging for us to see 900 transport professionals having now graduated as FORS Practitioners and now implementing those core principles in the workplace.”
FORS requires all members with FORS Bronze, Silver and Gold accreditation to demonstrate that staff undergo approved, progressive training.
