As part of its business expansion plans, TIP Trailer Services has relocated its branch in Scotland from its site in Motherwell to a brand-new modern 5-acre site at nearby Chapelhall. The move, which was completed in the last few weeks, more than doubles the available workshop capacity, in addition to providing much more modern facilities and considerable trailer parking space.

The new branch, to be known as ‘TIP Glasgow’, is located close to Junction 6 of the M8 motorway, providing easy access for customers in central Scotland and beyond.

Following its acquisition of D&M Trailer Services in October 2014, TIP has seen a rapid expansion of its trailer business in Scotland which has meant that they have outgrown the original site. The move to larger premises will enable the team to better service its customers’ short-term and long-term hire requirements and offer a wider range of maintenance services for customers’ own trailers.

The new Glasgow branch is headed up by Branch Manager Elaine Romeo, General Manager David Henderson and Sales Manager Peter Whelan who, together with their 15-strong staff in the workshop, office and mobile service vehicles, have a wealth of industry experience and knowledge to support customers’ needs. At the new branch, the modern and spacious workshop consists of seven bays that can accommodate all trailer types, including double deck trailers and longer semi-trailers. In addition to providing customers with trailer maintenance, repair and MOT preparation services, the new branch offers customers a tail lift and lifting deck maintenance and repair facility and has two roller brake test systems.

Commenting on the move to the new site, Elaine said, “We have more than doubled our workshop capacity and we plan to increase our mobile service coverage too, which currently utilises six fully-equipped mobile vans that enable us to meet customers maintenance and repair requirements on their own site”.

Elaine continued, “In 2014, TIP acquired D&M Trailer Services and since then we have grown the rental fleet significantly, now operating in excess of 600 assets. We have firmly established TIP as a trailer hire and third-party maintenance provider in central Scotland and beyond and the new facility will help support our growth plans over the coming years.”
