Alexanders Removals and Storage has taken delivery of a side-opening 18 tonne vehicle from Ab Ekeri Oy which, says the company, will improve loading flexibility and speed up handling times.

Alexanders is one of London’s premier removals and storage companies who, in the last year, have successfully completed over 700 removals in the London area – from studio flats to the well-known Nash mansions. In addition, the company provides a wide range of removals and related services for schools, airlines, private business and even the Salvation Army.

Exhibiting at the Movers and Storers Show in Lutterworth on November 8th, the new rigid-sided body comes with 6 doors, which open along the body length on the kerbside and are centrally locked for added security. For secure loading, there are lashing straps to the floor and both walls.

“We provide a comprehensive removals and storage service for domestic and commercial customers throughout the UK and abroad” says General Manager, David Ross, “and given the wide variety of items we carry, it’s essential to have a vehicle which enables fast, secure and flexible loading.”

The Ekeri body allows access to any part of the load from the side or rear, which saves time and avoids having to manoeuvre items around one-another or to off-load through the rear.

Manufactured by Ekeri in Finland, the GRP-skinned body is also equipped with side and rear ramps for easy access. “We can load 20 pallets or 5 of our large storage boxes through the sides and rear” adds David Ross. “As there are no posts in the way, we have unrestricted access with a loading length of 8150 mm and a height of 2740 mm.”

Formed in 2002 by husband and wife team Alex and Sam Pope, Alexanders’ diverse range of services includes free quotations, tailored removals planning, individual packing, dismantling office equipment, schools, home cleaning, IT services, antiques care, insurance cover and secure self-storage and containerised storage.

These attributes and more, combined to win Alexanders the title of Business Services Company of the Year and Logistics Business of the Year at the West London Business Awards 2017.

“All in all,” concludes David Ross “the Ekeri body’s combination of loading flexibility, high security and speedy handling widens the scope of the service we provide and goes a long way to making sure we can provide the very best service – whoever the customer, whatever the job.”
