Coop has partnered with Scania dealer, TruckEast Ltd, opening up a vehicle maintenance unit at their distribution centre in Wellingborough. Based on the Park Farm Industrial Estate, the site brings an opportunity for further jobs in the area.

The team of dedicated technicians that will be based at the vehicle maintenance unit (vmu) will be responsible for all vehicle maintenance, inspections and MOT preparation including trailers and
tail-lift. Ultimately, when it’s fully up and running it will manage 160 trucks and trailers that will operate out of the site twenty-four hours a day.

“The addition of the vmu has created eight new jobs with the potential for more as the business expands,” says Regional Aftersales Director – West, Graham Broughton.

“We’re already a large business in Northamptonshire’s logistics sector, employing 191 staff throughout the county. So being able to create more opportunities for the sector that contributes to just shy of 10% of the counties employment is fantastic for the local area. Not only with the Coop VMU, but also at our latest acquisition of ST Fleet in Northampton, where we’re recruiting for further staff,” he continues.

TruckEast, as a growing business in the Eastern Counties, strives to deliver a total support solution for its customers. That, along with its commitment to uptime, is key to the latest partnership with Coop. The new on-site vmu will operate 24-hours, seven days a week providing Coop with increased overall efficiency when it comes to repairs.

Recruitment for the site is underway with all vacancies live on the company website www.truckeast.co.uk/careers
