The Road Haulage Association welcomes Nottingham City Council’s proposals to reduce emissions without charging road users.

The city was ordered by the Government to submit proposals to bring in measures to comply with legal emissions levels.

Nottingham is set to meet its targets thanks to its investment in low emission vehicle technologies and stricter requirements for taxis, a move welcomed by the RHA.

RHA chief executive, Richard Burnett said: “Nottingham’s approach shows that a local authority can significantly reduce nitrogen dioxide levels by investing in cleaner technology.”

The RHA responded to the City Council’s consultation and advised against plans to extend the inner city clean air zone if it would restrict access to Euro VI lorries only.
