The Fortec Distribution Network has appointed Leo Schifano Regional Commercial Manager for the south.

In his new role Leo is responsible for looking after some 30 members of the network, stretching from Kent to Lincolnshire and across to Slough, including Hertfordshire, Milton Keynes, Northamptonshire, Ipswich, Essex and Brighton.

With more than 30 years in the transport industry, Leo joins Fortec after spending seven years with Pallex where he was National Sales Support Manager, and a further five years in the Irish pallet market.

He was with Nightfreight for more than 18 years, starting as a Salesman and working his way up to General Manager – a position he held for eight years and in which he was a regional troubleshooter, travelling around the country to work with depots which were not achieving their sales targets.

Leo also spent three years at Tuffnells Express Parcels as Depot Sales Manager, growing the Crawley depot into one of the largest input depots in the network.

Leo said: “I am delighted to be joining Fortec. It has an excellent reputation in the industry and the fact that it is a smaller network was highly appealing – I look forward to working with members in the southern region and helping them to continue to grow their businesses.”

David Spong, Network Director of Fortec, said: “Leo has a wealth of experience in both the pallet  and transport industry as a whole and he is a welcome addition to the Fortec team.

“His skills will be of great benefit to our network and to our members and we are pleased to have him on board.”
