Pellys Transport are pleased to announce that in addition to their full range of legal services that they offer to Transport Operators they have recently appointed Mr. Kevin McIvor, a highly experienced human resources director from the transportation and logistics sector, to their team. Kevin has over 30 years of “hands on” experience in human resources, across the private sector and was most recently HR Director for DHL.
Kevin will work alongside Simonne McIvor, their employment lawyer, (who is also very experienced, having advised Transport Business clients on employment law for over 25 years). Together they can provide support on specific employment issues, such as:
- Advice and support on recruitment of staff (from advertising to interviewing and induction)
- Resolution of employment disputes (including grievance, discipline and employment tribunals)
- Design and deployment of individual employment contracts/policies and procedures
- Design and deployment of full employment staff handbook with updates as the law changes
- Design and delivery of employment related training to management, staff and drivers.
There is a very close relationship between the regulatory requirements of a transport business and the need for robust human resources arrangements in contracts, and employment policy and procedures including health and safety. If there is a problem, then the traffic commissioner and DVSA may, and are increasingly likely to, investigate not only the incident but also all surrounding procedural and practical arrangements within the business.
The future is predicted to bring increasing regulation, in all areas, particularly to Transport Businesses.
