FORS is launching a new live interactive webinar to help its members and Champions, as well as CLOCS Champions and specifiers, understand the relationship between FORS and CLOCS.

The live ‘Demystifying FORS and CLOCS’ one-hour webinar explains how the two organisations work together to champion best practice in road transport operations, for the benefit of all road users, including a question and answer session open to all delegates.

The ‘Demystifying FORS and CLOCS’ webinar follows in the footsteps of the popular FORS workshop of the same name, which was developed in 2017 by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) – a key partner in the FORS Community Partnership.

The new online format will cover similar subject matter to the classroom-based workshop, allowing delegates from across the UK to attend the session without taking up valuable operational time.

FORS Manager Sonia Hayward, said, “FORS and CLOCS  are both in place to drive-up standards in road risk management across the logistics sector. However, with national growth of both FORS and CLOCS at an exceptional rate, there is a perceived confusion as to how they work together, so we have introduced the live webinar hoping to reach as wide an audience as possible.

“Glen Davies, CILT Senior Associate and FORS Technical Adviser, who developed both the original workshop and the new webinar, will be delivering the sessions to clearly explain the relationship between FORS and CLOCS.”

The ‘Demystifying FORS and CLOCS’ webinar will provide background and context as to why the construction sector is taking steps to protect the most vulnerable road users. It will clarify how clients specify the newly revised CLOCS Standard in their supply chain and how FORS accredited operators can demonstrate CLOCS compliance.

The webinar is designed for anyone with influence within the supply chain, including developers, principal contractors, fleet operators, local authorities and procurement professionals.

CLOCS was established as an industry led movement in 2013 to address the construction sector’s over-representation in fatal collisions involving vulnerable road users.

The latest iteration of the CLOCS Standard which came into effect in January stipulates logistics contracts should mandate FORS Silver in order to be CLOCS compliant.

Derek Rees, CLOCS Project Director, said, “Every construction client and principal contractor should use CLOCS to demonstrate their respective corporate commitment and practical actions to eliminate the tragic 500 fatal or serious injury collisions that occur every year on the UK’s roads between HGVs and pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists. Compliance to the CLOCS Standard is best demonstrated by fleet operators accrediting to FORS Silver. It’s as simple as that. Together we can save lives, business reputation and money.”
