FORS Gold member, Hutchinson Engineering Services is supporting Road Safety Week (November 18 to 24) with its own ‘Stay Safe Be Seen’ campaign.

The company, based in Weston, Nottinghamshire, launched the ‘Stay Safe Be Seen’ initiative in 2017 after Transport Manager, Ryan Easom completed the FORS Professional Safe Urban Driving training course.

Since then, Hutchinson Engineering Services has delivered the programme to children at local primary schools across the county, in order to educate them on road safety awareness. With a focus on how to stay safe around commercial vehicles, activities include talks about vehicle blind spots as well as tips on remaining visible around trucks and vans.

Working in tandem with Road Safety Week; the annual event coordinated by road safety charity Brake, Hutchinson Engineering Services hopes to encourage communities to take action towards improving recognition of potential dangers on the road.

As the majority of its work requires precision operations in busy urban areas, safety is a top priority for Hutchinson Engineering Services. The company has proved it always puts safety first by achieving FORS Gold, the highest level of accreditation, and is now committed to passing on its message to local school children and the wider community.

Hutchinson Transport Manager, Ryan Easom said, “As a business reliant on the use of large vehicles and aware of the associated safety risks, we’re proud to be part of FORS. We’ve worked hard to achieve our FORS Gold accreditation and are pleased to have the policies, procedures and practices in place to keep the public and our team safe on the roads.”

Now part of the Nottinghamshire Safety Education Partnership (NSEP), Hutchinson Engineering Services works alongside the police, fire brigade and RNLI to further safety education across the east Midlands.

This year it has also rolled out two Cycle Safety workshops in conjunction with Nottinghamshire County Council and has plans to share its vital message with secondary school pupils during 2020.

The company was recently recognised for its endeavours at The Heavies Awards 2018, winning the ‘Most Significant Safety Initiative’ gong for its continued commitment to improving safety on UK roads.

John Hix, FORS Director said, “We’re thrilled that Hutchinson Engineering Services continue to convey key safety information across Nottinghamshire. They’ve built upon their learnings from our FORS training courses and have made the messages relevant for schools and other organisations within the county. Brilliant work.”
