Numerous hauliers have been denied access to use handwashing facilities and toilets at delivery sites, sources confirm.

Not only does this risk deliveries, but it also means that lorry drivers are forced to go against government guidelines which state that everyone should wash their hands frequently to help fight off Covid-19.

It is vital that government resolves this issue immediately – not only are truck drivers vital to stocking shops and companies, but there is also the risk of worsening ‘panic buying’ due to public fears of a scarcity of goods.

Delivery sites which deny drivers access to toilets and handwashing facilities are not only acting illegally but can be reported to the Health and Safety Executive and Public Health England.

Unions have claimed that if delivery drivers fall ill because of coronavirus, then shortages could become prolonged or more serious.

Truckers – Please download this PDF from Public Health England and show this to any site which is denying you access to use toilets or handwashing facilities.
