Bibby Distribution’s expertise in delivering a safe working environment has seen the company win an International Safety Award from the British Safety Council (BSC).

The 3PL’s low accident rate, and dedication to proactively implementing new initiatives to protect team members, was recognised by independent BSC adjudicators with a Merit Award.

Andrew Mawson, Bibby Distribution’s Head of Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ), says: “We have won the Merit Award from the BSC for three years in a row – and every year, we look to build on our performance because it’s the right thing to do. Our people are our most important resource, so it is critical we protect our colleagues to help them meet their full potential.”

The last year saw the company record its lowest ever accident rate since the launch of its Road to Zero SHEQ strategy four years ago – with a 30 per cent reduction in the total accident percentage compared to 2015. The long-term strategy aims for zero harm, zero waste and zero environmental impact across the entirety of Bibby Distribution’s operations.

The company’s approach to safety places a heavy emphasis on openness and team empowerment. It has heavily invested in training and technology, designed to equip drivers with the skills and tools they need to keep themselves and others safe on the road. Additionally, an annual safety conference is used to share best practice across the business.
