Certas Energy, the UK’s leading independent supplier of fuels and lubricants, recently opened its latest HGV refuelling bunker site at the popular Red Lion Truckstop, a fixture of Northamptonshire’s ‘Golden Triangle’ of logistics for over 30 years.

The official opening ceremony will take place on Friday 11th October, and will be attended by Minister of State for Transport and MP for the area; Chris Heaton-Harris, MP. He will be joined by other local dignitaries, and members of the Northamptonshire Logistics Forum, as well as representatives from Certas Energy and the Red Lion Truckstop.

After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, these representatives will be on-hand to discuss the benefits available to Certas Energy fuel card holders, including fuel discounts for users of the network of Certas Energy bunker sites.

The truck stop is situated just 400m from Junction 16 of the M1, and the refuelling bunker promises to be a significant addition to the UK’s strategic road network. Featuring eight high-speed pumps dispensing fuel at up to 120 litres per minute, the site will be able to accommodate the many HGV drivers passing through the Northamptonshire transport hub with ease.

The Red Lion Truckstop has long been popular with drivers due to its home-cooked food offering, dedicated shower facilities and Park Mark-certified parking. The new HGV refuelling site is one of a number of refurbishments at the site, including extensive resurfacing, additional CCTV to improve security, and the option to pay for parking with cashless technology SNAP Account.

Red Lion Director, Zarfeen Sadrudrin, commented: “The addition of a Certas Energy refuelling bunker is fantastic news for the thousands of lorry drivers who pass through the ‘Golden Triangle’ every day. We are always looking at ways to improve our customer experience, and adding high-speed pumps and wide refuelling lanes offers HGV drivers a quick and hassle-free refuelling experience.”

Andrew Goodwin, National Bunker Manager for Certas Energy, added: “The ‘Golden Triangle’ is a key strategic location. Partnering with an established truckstop in the Red Lion allows Certas Energy to keep drivers moving by offering a ‘one-stop’ destination where they can access everything they need.

The Red Lion development is the latest in a series of refuelling bunker sites recently opened by Certas Energy, including facilities at Tyseley Energy Park, The Hollies and Holyhead Port.
