William Wilson, one of Scotland’s leading providers of plumbing, heating, and bathroom supplies, has taken on another two trucks from Ryder, a leading independent provider of commercial vehicle contract hire, rental, and maintenance.

The latest replacements are DAF LF150 curtainsided rigids with day cabs. Each truck features a purpose-built restraining system, 1 tonne full-closure cantilever tail lift with detachable safety gates, and Vehcam camera system with left-turn monitoring.

William Wilson operates 21 branches throughout Scotland: one of the new trucks is based at the Ayr branch, while the other is based at the Cumbernauld branch.

Ryder has been working with William Wilson for more than 10 years and supplies all of the 18-tonners and 7.5-tonners on their fleet.

David McKissack, Area Manager South, at William Wilson, said: “We keep coming back to Ryder for a number of reasons. We get value for money and a very good service thanks in part to Ryder’s National Account Manager, Peter Halkett. He’s been fantastic with us, he’s hands on when we need him.

“Our branches deal directly with their nearest Ryder location for service and maintenance. The proximity of the Ryder locations to our branches is also an important factor.”

The new vehicles are carrying out multi-drop deliveries; the new truck in Ayr can travel as far as Glasgow, while the new Cumbernauld truck can cover all of Scotland. David McKissack added: “Our trucks can clock up some serious mileage – that’s why we like to stick with the DAFs because they’re really reliable.”

Peter Halkett, National Account Manager, said: “We have built a strong relationship with William Wilson over many years. Our partnership is built on Ryder’s ability to listen and respond to William Wilson’s needs, allowing them to concentrate on their core operations.”
