Bristol-based waste management, reprocessing and skip hire specialists, ETM Recycling has replaced around 50 per cent of its 49-strong fleet with new Volvo trucks in the last three years.
A new 64-plate FH-540 tractor unit initiated the move to Volvo trucks in late 2014 and since then the family-run company has taken delivery of a further 24 Volvos from the FMX, FM and FL ranges. The double drive FH tractor unit hauls a BMI walking floor trailer on longer distance regional movements of bulk recycled materials, whilst the rigid fleet operates on a more local basis in and around the Bristol area.
Andy McCormack, Managing Director at ETM Recycling, specified Thompsons tipper bodies for his grab equipped, FMX 8×4 tippers, but some Volvo FM 8×4 hook loaders and a group of Volvo FL 18-tonne skips all come with the respective Hyva equipment.
Wayne Bryant, Transport Solutions Executive at Truck and Bus Wales and West in Avonmouth, supplied all of the new Volvo trucks and the entire group were sold with two-year Volvo Gold Service Contracts that guarantees 100 per cent uptime and complete peace of mind for the operator.
The ETM Recycling Volvo trucks also debut a company re-branding project, which sees a smart, new two tone blue and white cab wrap by local supplier, Avonmouth Signs.
“Waste, recycling and skip works are a tough environment for trucks to work in. There’s always going to be issues here, no matter what brand of vehicle is operated,” declares Andy McCormack, adding, “Volvo builds a robust truck, but the key factor for me is back-up. To date, Truck and Bus Wales and West have responded both promptly and effectively to every minor operational issue. They tackle these situations head on and I’m happy with that approach.”
