Four of the vehicles are Elite 6×2 narrow rear steer chassis with Olympus 19 bodies and Terberg OmniDEL Xtra lifts. The narrow vehicles are aimed at providing safe, efficient operations in places with restricted access, such as congested urban streets, while still carrying a significant payload.
The fifth RCV is a smaller 18-tonne 4×2 narrow vehicle which combines maximum manoeuvrability and operational efficiency in even tighter locations. But Trash UK’s Business Development Manager Ryan Price explained it was in great demand as a back-up vehicle.
“Many fleets have little spare capacity these days and roads are getting more and more congested –it’s all too easy for crews to get behind in their collection rounds,” he said.
“So we get a lot of calls from operators wanting a nimble little vehicle like this to act as a back-up, helping out crews who are getting behind so they can maintain customer service.”
Evesham-based Trash UK was set up in 1999 and bought its first second-hand Dennis Eagle vehicle in 2000. Today it has a hire fleet of nearly 80 vehicles which it provides to both local authority and private sector customers across the whole of the UK.
Both the Olympus body and the Terberg’s OmniDEL Xtra bin lift were fitted at Dennis Eagles’ Warwick factory which enabled a shorter and more efficient lead-in time and a single point of contact during production.
“Almost all our fleet are Dennis vehicles and our customers are more than happy with that,” said Ryan.
