To showcase the launch of its striking new livery, Ipswich-based Fifth Gear Transport Services has selected the Range T High with flat floor cab for its new flagship vehicles. The specialist in chilled, frozen and ambient distribution has put three Range T480 High 6×2 pusher axle tractor units into service operating out of Felixstowe on general container distribution across the UK.
Taking pride of place in Fifth Gear Transport’s 38-strong fleet, the new vehicles were specifically selected to launch the company’s new livery as Dave Warburton, Operations Manager explains: “We wanted something impressive, a real head-turner to promote our new livery. The highly-coveted Range T High with its spacious cab and good looks ticked all of our boxes.”
Positive experience with Renault Trucks with Premiums and Range Ts made the T High a natural choice to enhance the driver’s life on the road, as well as reflecting the company’s strong brand image.
Dave Warburton says: “We wanted something special for our container runs out of Felixstowe. The trucks are working five days and nights a week on long distances all across the UK. The T High, with its flat floor, delivers a spacious and comfortable home-from-home environment specifically designed with driver comfort in mind for long journeys – our drivers are absolutely delighted!”
Supplied by Renault Trucks dealer Norfolk Truck and Van, the high specification 13 litre Range T480 Highs are equipped with ultimate upper bunk, air-suspended heated and ventilated seat and 40L quiet fridge.
For Fifth Gear, Renault Trucks’ Optidriver gearbox AT 2412F with automated clutch, 2400 Nm torque, 12 forward and 3 reverse gears with choice of automatic or manual mode on the steering wheel make the new trucks a firm favourite with Dave and the drivers. He notes: “As well as being fantastic all-round motors, the transmission is the best on the market, gear selection is quick and smooth, selecting the right gear depending on the speed and driving style – it just makes for a more comfortable drive.”
The T Highs are on a 3 year full repair and maintenance contract with all work undertaken by Norfolk Truck and Van. Dave concludes: “We work on time critical deliveries for our customers and we have a great relationship with Norfolk Truck and Van. The team understands our business and always get the work done in an efficient and timely manner, I can’t fault them at all.”
