Family owned haulage company Dalton Transport & Storage Ltd. based in Thirsk, is celebrating 35 years in business and has ordered a new flagship 26.640 PerformanceLine tractor unit after looks impress at this year’s Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham.
The vehicle was ordered following a text message sent by MAN sales executive Mike Kavanagh. Mike visited MAN Manchester where MAN’s exhibit vehicle was being photographed in preparation for the CV Show.
Mike said: “The colour stood out as the striking blue characteristic of the vehicles owned by Dalton Transport. So I took a quick picture on my phone and sent it over to owner, Nigel Wilson.
“Nigel was prompt to respond and it certainly was love at first sight. He headed to the CV Show on day two and ordered one identical to the exhibition vehicle.”
Dalton Transport & Storage Ltd. is a family business owned by Nigel Wilson and his wife Anne supported by their son Stephen Appleton who will be driving the newly acquired tractor unit. The haulage company has been MAN customer since 1993 and operates ten vehicles in its fleet, six of which are MAN.
Nigel Wilson, company owner, said: “We ordered a new MAN TGX 26.560 vehicle last year and it has been a popular addition to our fleet and we were in the market for another when Mike sent through the text.
“Our fleet colour is blue and we had looked at the metallic paint, but when we saw this one with a bit of bling on it we were very excited.
“Seeing it at the show was fantastic and we were very impressed with the look of the vehicle and the size of the cab.
“We like the MANs that we are running already and with the support and good relationship with our local MAN Dealer at North Yorkshire Commercials, the engine size and fuel efficiency of the new vehicle was also attractive to us. We look forward to taking delivery of the new vehicle.”
