Ryder is supplying two Daf LF230 18-tonne curtainsiders with Day Cabs, a Daf CF460 6×2 tractor with Space Cab and curtainsided SDC trailer, all on three-year terms to Carlton Packaging. The new vehicles will make deliveries from Carlton’s UK distribution hub in Milton Keynes.

Carlton Packaging has been designing and supplying smart packaging materials and processes to fulfillment operations throughout Europe for the last 22 years. The company has seen significant growth in the last 12 months, and after discussions with Ryder, the new 18-tonners feature bodies that are 4 foot longer than those on the outgoing vehicles, improving the fleet’s capacity and efficiency.

Barry Smalley, senior operations manager at Carlton, says: “I joined the business last summer, and it was soon clear that we needed to add to our fleet. With the business growing, we turned to Ryder for a truck on spot-hire.

“We were happy with the speed of delivery and quality of service from Ryder. ‘Loads smarter’ is our proven methodology to increase our clients’ profitability and increase their consumer loyalty, so improving our fleet to meet our customers’ needs was one of the smarter services we offer. We’re excited to have Ryder to support us with the speedy growth.”

In switching to a leased fleet that has a full maintenance programme, Carlton has the reassurance that it can continue delivering a smarter service.

John Murray, Ryder sales and marketing director, says: “Carlton Packaging joins the growing list of businesses that have realised the benefits of leasing vehicles rather than owning them. Partnering with Ryder allows Carlton to focus on serving its customers. We look forward to supporting their continued growth.”
