A new Volvo FE 6×2 rear-steer tanker with an ADR compliant, vacuum sludge tanker with bodywork by Buckinghams of Kenilworth has entered service with Marlin Environmental Services Ltd., based in Chichester. The chassis was supplied by Stuarts Truck and Bus, Exeter and Buckinghams of Kenilworth is coming up to its 30th anniversary.

The 4,100mm wheelbase, day cab FE is equipped with the D8K280 8-litre engine rated at 280hp and the I-Shift automated gearbox – thus allowing excellent low speed manoeuvring capability coupled to economical operation over the road.

Marlin is far more than a company that just collects and disposes of effluent. Marine and Naval orientated, they offer their services to a range of clients, including Government and multi-national companies who require a complete ‘package’ of installation, commissioning, servicing and cleaning of waste tank and pipe systems. These include ultra-sonic cleaning and aqua-blasting, confined space rescue teams, in-house training and the full range of health & safety courses. Marine engine rebuilds can also be added to their remit.

So, to compliment the increasingly more sophisticated services Marlin offer, they decided that their Buckingham tanker fleet should go ‘up market’ in specification.

Their latest tanker, which is the sixth ‘Buckingham’ Volvo since 2005, therefore includes a 3,100 gallon, high grade stainless steel barrel, fully opening rear door with hydraulic assistance – including the clamps, high performance water cooled exhauster vacuum pump, as well as all the ADR Hazardous Waste regulatory requirements.
