Global bronze experts, Leeds Bronze Engineering Limited of West Yorkshire has taken delivery of its first Volvo truck – a new Volvo FL rigid, powered by a four-cylinder Volvo D5K engine producing a maximum power figure of 210hp.

Supplied by Steve Brown, Truck Sales Executive at Crossroads Truck and Bus Limited, this Euro-6 power plant also delivers a maximum 800Nm of torque between 1,100 and 1,700rpm. The 12- tonne 4×2 Day Cabbed rigid was delivered on a three-year contract hire deal and the truck’sspecification also includes a six-speed manual overdrive gearbox. Leeds Bronze Engineering opted for an 18-foot drop side body, which was manufactured by Micra Truck Bodies Ltd, Wakefield.

The new Volvo FL replaces two previous company vehicles: a 7.5-tonne truck and a one-tonne van. “Our new Volvo 12-tonner should bring some operating efficiencies and I’m really impressed with the vehicle. We rarely run at maximum weight at the moment, but the new 12-tonner brings increased flexibility levels to our business, which fits in perfectly with our future developmentplans,” reports Ryan Landale, Buyer at Leeds Bronze Engineering Ltd.

The Volvo FL will be used for local deliveries to the Midlands and surrounding shires, whilst the truck comes with a comprehensive Volvo Gold Service Contract.

“Specifying our new Volvo FL was a straightforward process with Steve Brown and our driver is‘over the moon’ with the truck. He’s also pleased with the interior packages,” Ryan adds.
